To be honest: I am happy to suppress that I should finally finish my studies. But there is still time, I like to tell myself again and again. Don’t stress. Like so much else. Do you know that As soon as something is not immediately palpable, people like to put it in the last back chamber of their brain box. Anyone who has read my last blog entry about marine litter in France and the Azulita project knows how much the following project is close to my heart.

It seems to me that the postponed tasks are like the micro-plastic particles in the sea: somehow everyone is aware of the topic, but it is hardly tangible. You can hardly see them anyway, can you? That probably makes the whole thing so complex. It is for this very reason that extraordinary problems need extraordinary solutions. And now we are at the Pacific Garbage Screening Project. It is a revolutionary idea that, with the help of a floating platform, enables plastic and plastic particles to be filtered out of the water. The approach works without nets and thus protects fish and other living beings. The recycled plastic waste is to be used to create resources for energy generation again or to become biodegradable plastic.

To set their vision and goal of clearing the oceans of plastic, the members of PGS founded a non-profit organization in 2016. All team members are volunteers for this vision.

To implement this, PGS has launched a crowdfunding campaign that will collect the required € 200,000 by July 15, 2018. The pointer is currently at just under € 110,000. In order to implement the whole thing, they need your help.

I became aware of the whole thing because I was contacted to see if I could support the projects. Sure, I immediately shared it on my targeted media and spread it further. I’ve donated myself, but somehow the whole thing wasn’t enough for me. So I pondered something and thought about the following:

Afterword: To be honest, I actually wanted to write an extensive article about our week with the Audi Nines drivers in Algave in Portugal. We had another unforgettable week at Pure Surfcamp Lode in Portugal. But then I decided on this topic. The photos in the article are all from the week. In one swing: Like last year, the week was again fragrant and a big thank you again for the great breakfast Målin, Sven’s Skills at the Smoker, Hardys and Sabrina’s uncomfortable good mood and, of course, Jonee for take-away check continual swell .

Vorne weg: Ich verdräng ganz gerne, dass ich endlich mal mein Studium beenden sollte. Aber das hat ja noch Zeit, sag ich mir immer wieder gerne. Bloß keinen Stress. Wie so vieles Andere. Kennt ihr das? Sobald etwas nicht unmittelbar greifbar ist, schiebt man es ganz gerne mal ins letzte hintere Kämmerchen seines Hirnkastls. Wer meinen letzten Blog-Eintrag über den Müll im Meer in Frankreich und das Azulita-Projekt gelesen hat, weiß wie sehr mir folgendes Projekt am Herzen liegt.

Es kommt mir so vor, als ist es mit den aufgeschobenen Aufgaben so wie mit den Mikro-Plastik-Teilchen im Meer: Irgendwie ist das Thema jedem bewusst, aber kaum greifbar. Sehen kann man die ja eh kaum, oder? Das macht das Ganze wohl so komplex. Genau aus diesem Grund brauchen deshalb außergewöhnliche Probleme wohl außergewöhnliche Lösungsansätze. Und schon wären wir beim Pacific Garbage Screening Projekt. Dabei handelt es sich um um eine revolutionäre Idee, die es mit der Hilfe einer schwimmenden Plattform ermöglicht, Plastik und Plastikpartikel aus dem Wasser zu filtern.  Dabei funktioniert der Ansatz ohne Netze und schont somit Fische und andere Lebewesen. Der recycelte Plastikmüll soll dazu verwendet werden, um wieder Ressourcen zur Energiegewinnung zu erstellen oder zu biologisch abbaubaren Kunststoff werden.

Um ihre Vision und Ziel, die Meere von Plastik zu befreien, um zu setzen, haben die Mitglieder von PGS 2016 einen gemeinnützigen Verein gegründet. Alle Teammitglieder sind dabei ehrenamtlich für diese Vision tätig.

Zur Umsetzung hat PGS eine Crowdfunding-Campagne gestartet, die bis zum 15.07.2018 die benötigten 200.000€ sammelt. Aktuell steht der Zeiger bei knapp 110.000€. Um das Ganze umsetzen zu können, benötigen sie also eure Hilfe.

Ich bin auf das Ganze aufmerksam geworden, da ich angeschrieben wurde, ob ich das Projekte unterstützen kann. Klar habe ich es sofort auf meinen sozielen Medien geteilt und weiter verbreitet. Ich habe selbst schon gespendet, nur irgendwie war mir das Ganze noch nicht genug. Ich habe also noch etwas gegrübelt und mir folgendes überlegt:

Ich verlose unter allen Teilenehmern bis Ende August ein Bild  von mir ihrer Wahl auf Leinwandgedrückt bis 120x80cm. Der Wert dafür liegt bei bis zu 400€. Ihr dürft euch eins meiner veröffentlichten Arbeiten aussuchen, ganz egal was. Wer’s drauf anlegen möchte, ist auch gern auf nen Kaffee eingeladen und darf hier am Rechner mein Archiv durchforsten.

Nachwort: Um ehrlich zu sein, wollte ich eigentlich erst einen ausgiebigen Beitrag über unsere Woche mit den Audi Nines Fahrern in der Algave in Portugal schreiben. Wir durften wieder eine unvergessliche Woche in der Pure Surfcamp Lode in Portugal verbringen. Doch dann habe ich mich doch für dieses Thema entschieden. Die Fotos in dem Artikel sind alle aus der Woche.
